I Fight for the Users

I just saw one of the most visually stunning sci-fi films of my life.  Tron Legacy, although it shows very little of Tron himself, is by far one of my favorite films of the holiday season, and will go down in history as one of my favorite movies of all time.  I won't give any story away, but I will say this, it is a must see movie of 2010.  If you saw the original Tron, then you may be hesitant.  I never have, which is okay since this film fills in the gaps just enough to get you rolling.
If for no other reason at all, you should see this film because of the incredible soundtrack it has.  Akin to the dirty and deep synthtones and bass beats of yesteryear circa 1980s, not to mention incredible Disney quality orchestration.  Most, or, all of the music was done by the  beatmasters of Daft Punk, who I suspect made a cameo appearance wearing robo costumes in the film.  A lot of the music reminded me of Deus Ex, particularly the new installment Human Revolution coming early next year.

Cyberpunk ga daisuki desu yo!

I've recently read a great novel by Neal Stephenson, you may or may not have heard of it.  It's name is Snow Crash.  This novel's genre has been defined as Cyberpunk, a standard that was set forth, unofficially and semi-officially, by William Gibson in his novel titled, Nueromancer.  Both authors have written other works, but so far to me these stand out as peerless works of the genre in which they are set in.  In Stephenson's Snow Crash, published in 1992, he sort of foretells of things that the future holds, in other words he presents a future that is so strange and outrageous that you will recognize it immediately.  What I found was that most of what he had written then has either come to pass or is being developed in reality.  William Gibson also did the same, in fact some may claim that his coining of the word cyberspace actually inspired Tim Berners-Lee's discovery/invention of the World Wide Web in 1990 along with the advent of the Internet.  Even before Gibson and Stephenson's individual works, came the feature length movie Blade Runner, directed by Ridley Scott in 1982, before that even was the manga of Akira in 1980.  I am fascinated by the many facets that the cyberpunk genre presents.  Various works have reached incredible notoriety ever since, including Japanese Manga and Anime feature films and series.

Working away

As you can see I have been making several changes to the blog and will soon flesh out said changes.  School is a bit of an interference for now, but the important thing is that I am learning new things.  Yay!  I guess.  Anyway, I'm compiling a fun list that I think will be interesting and such.  Blah blah blah.  But no one probably really cares since I only have a few followers at this point.  Whatevs.

 OMG(osh) SO EPIC!
Just beat the game, loved the gameplay, the story not so much.  Oh, Matt what did you think of battling Phantoon?!  I knew there would be some throwback action put into the mix!  Booyah, I'm pumped I think I'll eat a plasma sandwich now. YUM!

ZOMG! Not really, I guess. Cuz there aren't any zombies involved and stuff... Whatevs!

So I saw one of the most hilarious and awesome movies with my two best buds and my wife last night.  Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.  Based on manga like graphic novels, and also made into a video game, this movie represents a ton of video game culture that is downright awesome to the max.  I lost count of how many video game references were in the movie after the first fifteen minutes.  I thoroughly enjoyed this film and recommend it to anyone who loves video games and those of you who love to laugh.

bit and run - Mario's Ladder

Here is an entirely different show that I also found via shamoozal. That's it for the showcase. Great stuff though.

How to Hook Up the NES

This is another shamoozal vid that is freaking awesome.

I found a new website wanna see?

It's call Shamoozal. They have funny stuff on there. For example cartoons about video game characters, also reviews on movies, games, TV and nerd things. I stumbled upon them by watching this video of theirs on, it was quite hilarious and well done. Some of their other stuff is equally as hilarious. So check it out.

Coming soon!

Okay, so I'm really bad at updating my blog...ever.  So I will start updating it with some of my favorite things, rants, explosive op"innuendo", commentary on life in Utah, life in general, and things that I absolutely hate.  Yes, I'm a very complex creature capable of many emotions.  Enough about that, I will be back with more, later.  Which is to say not now but in the near future.

Enjoy nothingness for awhile, but prepare for awesomeness beyond your wildest dreams.  Or whatevs.

The New Doctor

As many may know, well just those who pay attention to Doctor Who, the new series has started.  There are already 3 episodes now, but lets talk about the Easter Special.  Essentially it's the first episode albeit a special that runs a little over sixty minutes.  There were several specials featuring the previous doctor David Tennant in which he continued his journeys sans companion.  Those all culminated in the 10th Doctor's death, however, he regenerated into current Doctor Matt Smith.  Yeah, well at first I wasn't thrilled.

Grrrrgh! CAR REPAIRS!!!!

I have a 2007 Scion tC and I was stupid enough to not brake sufficiently in the snow, thereby slamming into a curb and messing up my alignment.  That was back in the beginning of February.  Well, here at the end of March, I decide to take it in to Big O for them to have a look see.  Turns out a major component, the control arm, is bent and needs to be replaced.  Well, they say it will cost about 450 dollars.  That's including the realignment that I need.

PC pwns everything!

I own all of the major in home consoles of this generation.  I've got the PC, the Xbox 360, the PS3, and the Wii.  PSP and Nintendo DSi don't count.  Out of all of these which would you say is the best overall?  Well, you already know I'm going to say the PC.  Why?  It is way ahead of each of the technologies that Nintendo, Sony and Xbox use.  It costs more, but it remains a constant upgradable existence.  A new game comes out, it has awesome graphics, so you may need to update to compensate for that.  In my case, I won't have to for another year at least.

The World is a Strange Place.

My cousin, is amazing.  So amazing, and awesome that he created a whole new breed of technologically advanced lifeforms.  I give you... Railgun Puppy.  Yes, this particular breed of puppy totes a high powered and terribly destructive railgun.  What is a railgun you ask?  Trouble!  But scientifically it is a gun, or rifle that uses magnetically charged rails to accelerate a projectile at several times the speed of sound.  The result is a big gaping hole where your stomach, or spleen used to be.  The US Navy currently has one, but it's too big to be held.  That, however, is no small feat for a railgun puppy.  Watch out unsuspecting bad-guys, and dog haters!

check this link for info on how this came to be. Chances of Rain.

Math is my best friend!

I am taking a math course right now and holy crap!  I haven't done math in nearly 7 years, but I can tell you this I'm remembering quickly.  I graduated in 2003 and the math course I took in my senior year was, lets face it, not that hard.  It was geometry 1.  So, I breezed through it thinking that math was only secondary in my education.  Boy have I been wrong.  A lot of the majors that I'm interested in require extensive mathematics.  Here I am, starting at the bottom rung, well almost, in Math 920.  But it's a relief as to how easy and how helpful it has been so far.  Two classes and already I'm feeling more confident in my capabilities to solve mathematical equations.  Now, we've only just started, and the harder stuff is going to come up, but I'm actually paying attention this time around, and not doodling in class like I did in High School.

Too much I ask?

Everyone who knows me knows that I like to play video games, and that I have a crazy amount of them, plus the systems to boot.  i thought about this when was playing through Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for the 5th or 6th time, I can't remember exactly how many times it's been now.
This time on the Xbox 360.  I don't know why I play through it so much, but it is oddly satisfying to play.  The multiplayer is fun too, albeit a bit aggravating with all the children playing it.  Yes, children under the age of 18.  I guess that is to be expected.  Children of a young age are much more gifted in complex motor skills since they practically grew up with a controller of some type in their hands.

James and I had a conversation via cell phones, and here it is.

The Ninja: True true. 48 5585Jpd jgtmdajtw knelt ulcelestym bluen.
Me: I havent attained the level of awesome in order to comprehend that last part.
The Ninja: So how did you read the first and middle parts?
Me: I could only guess, the rest obliterated my mind. Luckily I backed it up earlier. Restore point for the win!
The Ninja: Comprehensions fail! Back up brain win!
Me: Exactomundo! A word I have never used until now... Win!!!!!!! Boom! say goodbye to your arms suckah!

I wish I remembered crap sometimes...

I have a cousin, and he is a ninja.  I know, I know awesome right?  Well here is the most awesome part, I am also a ninja so naturally we hang together from time to time.  What is the outcome of this event?  Pure unadulterated epicness!  We often say things that cannot be comprehended by nonjas (non ninjas) but we still manage to make them laugh or even ponder what has been said.

A note on working early

IT SUCKS!  Yes I am awake writing this post because I have to go to work at 4 a.m.  The good part is that I will be home by 12:30pm and have time to do things, take a nap, etc.  But the overall experience is harrowing and tiring.  I can't wait for the day when I have 9-5 and Monday through Friday work shifts.  Anyway, toodaloo.

Doctor Who, watch it!

When I was a child I grew up in a house knowing about Doctor Who.  Now this is rather rare since I am a citizen of the USA.  My parents used to watch Doctor Who on their PBS station while I was still in the womb.  Well somehow that simple act transferred into my brain and I have had an interest in Doctor Who throughout my life.  It took me until 2007-08 to watch the new series though.  The original series started way back before my birth and even my parents.  It was extremely popular then, so BBC resurrected it and it is really popular now.

Blogging frustration!

I like having this blog, but if there is one thing that I hate about it, its the dang html!  I can't wrap my head around it.  I've been to countless sites reading their tutorials and such and it doesn't help my problem one bit.  All I want is to replace the title of my blog with an image that I created myself.  That's all!  The really annoying thing is that's built in image upload technique wont work with the html template that I'm using and I can't figure out why.  Whats the thinking here?  Someone decided to make a three column blog template but didn't include one crucial part?  How can I change that without messing up my blog?  I don't know the answers to these questions.  Whatever, I'll learn html and then it will all be clear.  Now if I only had time...

This is the picture that I want for the title.

What have they done?

Okay, how many times has a book been turned into a movie or television series?  Countless times no doubt.  How many of those adaptations were true to form and actually any good?  That depends on the interpreter, or producers, directors, etc.  How is this fair to the viewer?  Often times it isn't.  Despite all this, books like Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, and the Golden Compass have been recreated in cinematic form, and to be honest they were pretty good, but not 100% accurate.  A lot of that has to do with how the director feels the movie should flow.  Books and movies don't flow the same, in fact a book transliterated into a movie is a terrible thing.  It would take much too long to create the movie itself, and the audience would get bored, fast.

Happy New Year!

I'm starting off the new year with my first post. So, it's been a good year, if not a bit rough due to the economic failings of North American society, whatevs. The best thing that happened to me this year was when I got married (April 3rd, 2009) for time and all eternity to my beautiful wife, Steph. She's awesome and stuff!
